Quantel comes to Newsworld having just announced an order from the BBC to supply its generationQ server and editing technology for the BBC Jupiter project – the centralising of content for its entire London Television Centre News operation.

generationQ for News offers totally scalable software and hardware. Systems can scale from a single server with a few ports and journalist and craft edit workstations to a multi-server, multi-port, multi user system of virtually any size. Key to the generationQ concept is its progressive editing interface that can be tailored to the needs of every individual user, while offering a common, easy to use interface to all. The same software can also be used on a laptop computer for field editing. This makes training easy, and as, for example, a journalist develops his or her editing skills, new functions right up to full-blown craft editing tools can be added without the need to relearn a new package.
