Governor General of Canada Patron of
World Congress of Arts Producers and Performance

The Banff Television Foundation is pleased to announce that Her Excellency the Right Honourable Adrienne Clarkson, Governor General of Canada, has agreed to be the Patron for the inaugural World Congress of Arts Producers and Performance. ARTS & Performance 2003 takes place November 5 to 8, 2003 at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa.
Making the announcement today at the Opening Ceremonies of the 24th Banff Television Festival, Pat Ferns, president and CEO of the Foundation, said: "In her earlier career, the Governor General played a key international role on behalf of Canada with the IMZ (International Music Centre) and Arts in a New Matrix, both partners in this new initiative. We are absolutely delighted that she has agreed to be the Patron of the World Congress to assist artists, critics, producers, performers and content creators in this field."
The World Congress of Arts Producers and Performance is a four-day forum that provides industry stakeholders from around the world the opportunity to share ideas and discuss key issues and trends in arts and performance genres of television programming. Plenary sessions, workshops, seminars and social events will be featured, including a dinner at the Museum of Civilization and a reception at the National Gallery of Canada. Delegates to ARTS & Performance will attend the Governor General's Performing Arts Awards which take place at the National Arts Centre on Saturday, November 8.
ARTS & Performance is generously supported by the Canada Council for the Arts and the Department of Canadian Heritage. Host broadcasters of the event are the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and Radio-Canada in association with ARTV.
